BEWARE of Email Scams
Unfortunately, some people see this pandemic as an opportunity to take advantage of others. We have had reports of fraudulent “phishing” emails, purportedly from the pastor of a parish, asking parishioners to urgently send money. Of course, close inspection of the email address reveals that the email is not actually from the pastor after all; however, in their haste to help, some parishioners do not look closely enough. Any version of Fr. Ned’s and/or Fr. Christian’s email address other than the official ones printed in the parish bulletin is not to be trusted.
NEVER pay through a link requesting money from Fr. Ned or Fr. Christian or something from the cluster parishes. Mail in a check to the office with the CAUSE in the MEMO. ALWAYS right-click on the name from which you received the email from. DON’T just look at the title. (that is easily changed to make it look like it is coming from a trusted source… you must look at the ROOT of the email sender.
We are not sending out email solicitations of any sort at this time, nor plan to. To prevent from sending a donation to someone that is not us, ALWAYS SEND YOUR DONATION TO THE CLUSTER OFFICE (403 Sharpsburg Rd., Fort Recovery, OH 45846) IF we notice a donation was sent to us because of a solicitation we did NOT make we will contact you to confirm whether or not we need to cancel your check. If at any time you are in doubt, CALL THE OFFICE BEFORE YOU SEND ANY MONEY. THE SAFEST WAY IS TO SEND A CHECK to the cluster office at 403 Sharpsburg Rd., Fort Recovery, OH 45846. Our office number is 419-375-4153. Don’t call any other number and don’t send money to any other address than the one given above. Thank you. God Bless!
